The Pasifika Ola Lelei Services (POLS) Gambling Team of South Seas Healthcare Trust and Raukura Hauora O Tainui have revealed their plans for this year’s upcoming National Gambling Harm Awareness Week (Sept. 4th – Sept. 8th) and it includes holding several public activities in order to promote Public interest and awareness.

“Official Government statistics show that members of the Maori and Pacific Community are at high risk of Gambling Harm and so it makes perfect sense that we try our very best to create awareness in our communities”, says Papali’I Ala’ilima a Public Health Educator for the POLS Gambling Team.

“Our plans include hosting activities in the days leading up to National Gambling Harm Awareness week as well as hosting activities during the week itself. Evidence shows that spending time with loved ones and sharing rewarding activities together is a powerful way to protect them from harm. Whether it’s kicking a ball around, sharing Kai, or exploring somewhere new, as a family member you can make a difference. We’re encouraging people to protect their loved ones from Gambling Harm by prioritizing fun activities with whanau.” Papali’I concluded.
